Two weeks in the desert, the expedition was slowly but surely making its way across. They arrived at an abandoned village. A yard surrounded by some buildings and a sanctuary a little further out. Ilma, the Terge told the group that it was safe to stay in for the night as he knew the place well; he entered on one of the buildings, inspected it and said: ''Here, well sleep in here.'' They made a fire, ate their dinner and it was well into the night. ''We'll set up a night watch, two be two, we'll alternate every three hours.'' Said the Terge while Fenrig and the others went to sleep. Fenrig's watch was in 2nd along with Orcen. An hour into it Fenrig heard some noises coming from the sanctuary. He decided to go take a look. ''I'll go see what's making this noise, if you hear anything wake everybody up'' Fenrig approached the rotten door, opened it and saw the most horrifying scenes. A pile of corpses, one of the corpses, cut in half, was still crawling, he turned his head towards Fenrig and blew his last breath, uttering one last word, ''Run'' Fenrig, still not understanding, ran out of the building and headed to towards the camp, when he heard Orcen screaming, He was being attacked by some darkened creatures, as Fenrig was trying to figure out what to do he saw a dozen of the same creatures on the roof of the building where the group was sleeping, trying to break in. Fenrig ran towards the fire, picked up a burning log and rushed to warn the group. One of the creatures that were devouring Orcen blocked his path, Fenrig hit him with the log and kept on running, until he reached the door, he kicked it in and saw Esmeralda and The Terge were already awake; the three of them wake the rest of the group up in a hurry. The entire group rushed out of the building and started attacking the creatures. A few of them were bitten but they managed to get rid of the monsters. Orcen's cousin in deeply saddened at the sight of his younger cousin's dead body, started shouting at Fenrig ''He's dead and it's all your fault''
''No, Fenrig did what he could to save us, it's my fault'' responded the Terge, then he added: ''How did you manage to pick that burning log with your bare hands?'' Fenrig, didn't pay attention couldn't believe what he just did, he looked at his hands and say nothing and saw no burns at all nothing but ashes. Fenrig then took the Terge to the sanctuary to inspect the bodies. Ilma recognized two of them, two fellow Terges he knew. ''These are the so called Deserters, and the rest must be the travelers. These creatures are called Syl's, they take pleasure in killing innocent people, they don't eat human flesh but will still kill us for fun ''The Terge told the group to help him bury the bodies before the sun rises again.
