As the horn sound faded, a group of horsemen appeared in the distance and started throwing spears at the Carnas, killing a large number of them and the rest started running away. Half the horsemen chased the remaining beasts and the other half approached the expedition. Ilam explained to the commander the situation which ordered two of his men to go around the Orn area and bring back the Dremurs. Meanwhile, everybody sat on the ground, trying to catch their breath and mourn their dead fellow. The commander spoke up: ''Diamora isn't safe anymore, the beasts are getting more and more organized and bloodthirsty, the hoard you just saw isn't normally possible, Carnas usually hunt in packs of ten at most.'' The two horsemen came back with the Dremurs and the commander decided to escort the group for a few leagues. Then they stopped and the commander said ''We'll leave you here, but i must warn you. We heard word about an enormous beast hunting in these sands, we keep on finding slaughtered corpses, and I won't normally lest you go, but since you have a Terge with you can leave. Then he wished the good fortune and left them to continue their way into the desert.
